Your safety and security are our top priorities. Here are some essential tips to keep your accounts safe:
• Create Strong Passwords: Use a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. Avoid easily guessed passwords like your name, birthdate, or common phrases.
• Change Passwords Regularly: Update your passwords every three to six months and avoid reusing old ones.
• Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Add an extra layer of security by linking your account to a one-time password (OTP) generator or authenticator app.
• Monitor Account Activity: Check your statements and transaction history regularly. Report unauthorized transactions immediately.
Online banking provides convenience, but it requires caution. Protect yourself with these tips:
• Access Through Secure Connections: Always use secure internet connections for online banking. Avoid public Wi-Fi or shared computers.
• Verify Websites: When logging in, ensure the URL starts with “https” and check for the padlock symbol in the browser’s address bar.
• Beware of Phishing Attempts: Never click on links in unsolicited emails or SMS messages that ask for your banking details. Instead, type the bank’s official website URL directly into your browser.
• Log Out After Use: Always log out of your online banking account when you’re finished, especially on shared devices.
Your mobile device is a powerful tool, but it also needs protection. Here’s how:
• Update Your Software Regularly: Keep your phone’s operating system and banking apps up-to-date to protect against vulnerabilities.
• Set a Strong Screen Lock: Use PINs, patterns, or biometric authentication (like fingerprints or facial recognition) to secure your device.
• Download Apps Only from Trusted Sources: Install the official SHWE Bank app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Avoid third-party app stores.
• Monitor App Permissions: Check which permissions the app is requesting. Banking apps should not require excessive access to your device.
• Be Wary of Suspicious Calls or Messages: Scammers may contact you pretending to be from the bank, asking you to install apps or share personal details. Always verify directly with us.
Fraudsters use various tactics to trick people into giving away their money or personal details. Here’s what you need to know:
• Social Engineering Scams: Fraudsters may pose as SHWE Bank staff and pressure you to share sensitive details. SHWE Bank will never ask for your PIN, password, or OTP.
• Remote Access Scams: Avoid downloading apps like AnyDesk or TeamViewer at someone’s request. Scammers can use these apps to control your device and steal your information.
• Fake Loan Offers: Be cautious of social media ads offering quick loans. Verify the legitimacy of the offer through official channels.
• Online Shopping Scams: Purchase only from trusted e-commerce sites and avoid making direct bank transfers to unknown sellers.
What You Should Do:
ATMs are a convenient way to access your funds, but they can also be targeted by fraudsters. Follow these tips to stay secure while using ATMs:
• Shield Your PIN: Use your hand or body to block others from seeing your PIN as you enter ATM machine.
• Be Alert to Your Surroundings: Stay aware of people nearby. If someone is too close or behaving suspiciously, cancel your transaction and leave.
• Avoid Assistance from Strangers: Never accept help from anyone claiming to assist you at an ATM.
• Avoid Leaving ATM Card Unattended: Never leave your card lying around in your home, office, or car. Keep it in a secure place when not in use.
• Avoid Sharing Photos of Your Card: Never share photos of your card online or via messaging apps.
• Contact the Bank Right Away: If your card is lost, stolen, or compromised, inform SHWE Bank immediately to block the card and prevent unauthorized access.
